Pharmacy setting

Independent Community Pharmacy: An independent pharmacy is a retail pharmacy that is not directly affiliated with any chain of pharmacies and is not owned (or operated) by a publicly traded company. Independent pharmacies are privately held businesses in varying practice settings. They include single-store operations, pharmacist-owned multiple store locations, franchise, compounding, long term-care (LTC), specialty, and supermarket pharmacy operation. Independent pharmacy owners generally have high standards of customer service and strive to outperform chain pharmacy competitors.

Non-Sterile Compounding: Refers to the practice of preparing a specific medication that individualize patient's treatment, such as creating individual dosage form and transdermal therapy. The practice of compounding is performed under strict rules and by following professional guidelines. The compounds are customized according to legal standards that ensure that every ingredient maintain the proper potency and purity standards.
